Pengaruh Pruning Pada Hutan Rakyat Sengon Terhadap Riap Tegakan, Produksi Tanaman Bawah , Aliran Permukaan Dan Erosi

Annual crop yield under Paraserianthes falcataria private forest decreases when the stand reaches 2-3 years old, so that the land cannot be utilized until the last rotation. To improve land utilization until the last rotation, a technique should be developed. Based on that reason, a study was conducted in order to obtain pruning intensity that can increase stand increment and plant productivity as well as reduce runoff and erosion. The study was held in Sidorejo Village, Kemalang Sub District, Klaten District, Central Java. The location is located in Pepe Ds. sub watershed, Solo watershed. The treatments consisted of 0%, 60 % and 80% of pruning (P1, P2 and P3) in plot of 25 x 10 m. Zea mays and Colocasia esculenta were planted under Paraserianthes falcataria in every pruning technique (T1 and T2). Every treatment was replicated 3 times so that the number of plots was 18. Investigation was held in 13 month by measuring trees growth, life percentage, crop yield, runoff and erosion. Runoff and erosion were measured in plot 22 x 8 m and these plots were inside plots of 25 x 10 m. The results showed that 80% pruning (P2) reduced diameter increment but 60% pruning gave the highest diameter increment. Sixty percent of pruning and planting annual crops like Colocasia esculenta increased volume increment. Increasing pruning intensity improved the yield and profit of Colocasia esculenta. P1 treatment gave benefit Rp.787.000,-/ha/9 month and P2 gave benefit Rp. 1.604.333,-/ha/9 month. On the other hand, P0 treatment gave financial loss Rp. 257.667,-/ha/9 month. Life percentage of annual crop under Paraserianthes falcataria of Pennisetum purpureum, Colocasia esculenta and Coffea sp were 98%, 96% and 86% . High pruning intensity (80%) increased runoff, but erosion was more affected by species of annual crop than perennial crop Paraserianthes falcataria. The erosion rate in every treatment was lower than the tolerable erosion.
