Abstract (English) :
High siltation rate at Gajah Mungkur Dam in Wonogiri District was indicated worst hydrological condition at the catchments areas. From the previous reports the siltation rate was 5.3 mm/year while the standard rate was only 1.2 mm/year. Therefore it could reduce the dam life time for only 27 years. Efforts to reduce the high siltation rate in the dam were conducted by implementation of land rehabilitation and soil conservation (LRSC) measures in 1989-1993. To evaluate the causal factors of siltation rate in Wonogiri Dam and the application of LRSC during 1989-1993, the hydrological parameters, i.e. rainfall-runoff trend, Qmax Qmin ratio (KRS), coefficient of variation (CV), runoff coefficient (C), sedimentation rate, and erosion index were investigated on this study. The results indicate that: 1) the average KRS value at Keduang and Alang subwatersheds were categorized as fair, whereas Wuryantoro and Temon subwatersheds had bad values; 2) the average CV value at Wonogiri Dam were 42-108 % (categorized as bad); 3) the average C (runoff coefficient) value was categorized as good condition; 4) the sedimentation rate tended to decrease but the rate was still higher than the accepted standard value at Wuryantoro and Alang subwatersheds; 5) the average erosion index during the last ten years still show a bad catchment condition (EI>1) but the EI values in 2000 for Keduang, Wuryantoro and Temon watersheds tend to improve.
