Abstract (English) :
Vegetables are commonly cultivated in upper area that has characteristics as follow:high altitude( more than 750 m from sea leve)l, high rainfall (>2500 mm/year), steep slope and it is intensive cultivation. Due to the characteristics, conservation techniques must be applied in that land in order to control soil erosion. The developed technology should be accepted by the farmers, as well as control soil erosion and runoff. The purpose of this study is to know cropping pattern and implementation of soil conservation technique in vegetable land areas, to know the relation between farmers activities and soil erosion. This study was conducted in Dieng, Pathak Banteng village and Serang village, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, on which micro catchments area of 0,5 - 1 Ha were used to monitor erosion and runoff. The result of this study showed that 1) there were three cropping patterns a) tobacco - potato, b) continually potato and c) potato - potato ?cabbage. The highest profit of potatoes product was Rp. 28.199.000/ha. 2) The highest erosion was 59,57 ton/ha occurred in February at Pathak Banteng on 72% of slope. Runoff and runoff coefficient were 59,92 mm/year and 31,74%, respectively. The soil erosion during 5 months was higher than the tolerable erosion.
