Abstract (English) :
Forest plays an important role in keeping water balance i.e. reducing flood during rainy season and increasing water yield during dry season. However. the function of forest to keep the water balance is still debatable. his research is aimed to investigate water yield during dry season from old pine forests (30 and 32 years) and young pine forests (8, 10, and 15 years). A pair catchment method was used to investigate water yield during dry season. Watujali catchment is covered by old pine forests and Silengkong catchment is covered by young pine forests. Those catchments have similar area, shape, soil type, slope, and rainfall. Direct measurement of discharge from July to September 2009 shows that water yield during dry season is higher from catchment covering by young pine plantation than those from old pine forests. The peak water yield from young pine forests is also higher than that of the old pine forests.
