Pengaruh Variasi Intensitas Cahaya Beberapa Jenis Tanaman Tahunan Dalam Pola Agroforestri Terhadap Produksi Tanaman Semusim

As an alternative of land rehabilitation and reclamation methods, application of agroforestry in the field has been hampered by land owners (farmers) even though it is proven ecologically and economically profitable. The main reason is that by planting trees can disturb the growth of crops and decrease its productivity as well. Compromise should be made to fulfill the need of increasing productivity and preventing land degradation. The aim of this paper is toinvestigate theeffect of light intensity on crop production. Light intensity measurements were done under some trees, such as jati (Tectona grandis), pete (parkia speciosa), mangga (Mangifera indica), mete (Anacardium occidentale), dan nangka(Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam) as well. The impact of shading to crop production is expressed in LER (Land Equation Ratio). LER value of 1 means that there is no advantage of mixed planting over sole cropping. It means that no different productivity between mixed planting (agroforestry) and sole cropping. Moreover, shading in agroforestry has no effect on crops. Our research shows that mete hasthe biggest shading (85%) followed by jati (57%) and pete (68%). The production of peanut(Arachis hypogaea) under shading of 40% to 70% is two folds of production of 98% shading. Under jati and nangka, production of peanut has no different with the production of sole cropping with LER value bigger than 1. Based on these reasons, it needs to consider choosing mete in agroforestry. Furthermore, mete should be combined with crops which are not sensitive to shading.
